Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the long journal hiatus.
I have been busy with everything but my photography.

Quick update;

Finally have another flash unit, Canon Speedlite 430exII
Got some wireless triggers, lightstand and umbrella for off camera lighting.
I now have a new website host,  (4ormat.com) at a better price a month.
Have done some personal shoots, a few paid jobs, and  two weddings.
Also I'm going back to shooting film again. And I'm actually excited about that.
Shot some rolls lately with a manual camera and my old Canon Elan IIe.
Its been good, feels like going back to basics. I'm trying to buy an old Nikon F100 just to try out the Nikon brand.

Its not been easy staying motivated. I have a job that requires me to drive alot. So I don't have alot of money for gas to go all the places I want to shoot.
Just so many things in my life that tax my enthusiasm for photography. But  I have another shoot I'm planning in couple of weeks.
And i want to start a blog for my photography. I used to journal a lot in my twenties.
It a bit harder now. The idealism from back then as thinned out.
I don't want to lose my love for this. I feel I have just scratched the surface of my photography.
I just need to push on.

Nuff for now.
Catch you later.

Hey folks,

I hope everyone is doing well.
Two weeks ago I was hired to be one of the staff photographers at the Indian Film festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) @ the Arclight Theater on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood.
This will be my third year doing photography at this film festival. I also got to use my new used 5D Mk I at  the festival. And it worked great. (THANK GOD FOR FULL FRAME)
Photography at the festival was done by me and another photographer named Maria Martin.

If you want to see some of the photography, go here.
www.indianfilmfestival.org/

On the home page the first five photos are mine.
I'm very pleased with my photography this year.
I got alot of good compliments for my photography.

Then last Saturday I got to shoot a wedding. That went well.
And many of the photos came out great.

Then I had my little shoot with Devon in Santa Monica, CA that was cool.
And yes I'm lovin my 5D. I still have so much to do with it.

Well that it for now.
Tell you more later.

Peace.

Well folks after a long time sitting in a Camera shop on layaway in Torrance, California, a little over a year later....I am now the proud owner of a Used Canon EOS 5D full Frame camera.
Before you go SWEET...its the first model, which some call the Mark I.
I brought it home this past Saturday. I have yet to take it out to shoot yet. (Been Raining and really cold for LA.)
I see the difference in the viewfinder. My EF 24-70mm lens is now on it.
I'm trying to set up another modeling shoot very soon.
So I hope to see what this camera can really do.
Look for photos soon.

Cheers.

Hi everyone,

Just nice and simple, I now have a Facebook page for my photography; "Gene Lewis - Virtu Imagery".
Please check it out.

www.facebook.com/pages/Gene-Le…

This won't replace my DA account or my Flickr.com page.
This is just for more exposure.

Till later.

Bye

Sorry folks,

I have yet to really get into blogging and online journals.
But a lot has happened in the last couple of months.
First off as of last week, I am the proud owner of a :boogie:Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Lens.
My first gig with this amazing lens as at the "Molina Literacy Awards" at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood.
The reason i got this lens was all the rave about it for weddings and portraiture photography.
I can't wait to try this lens on my next Photo shoot hopefully in two weeks.

In latest news, I got to cover the Unveiling of the Lost Negatives from the Norsigian Collection @ the The David W. Street Gallery in Beverly Hills, CA. September 23rd, 2010. These lost negatives are believed to be Lost Works of Ansel Adams which this guy found at a yards sale years ago.
This was a big deal in the Photography world. I realized that during the event.

You can see the pics here;

So slowly but surely I'm getting gigs for photography.
It's so frustrating because I'm not making enough money to get what I need.
I need to get my 5D, And new cam bag and another Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash. And I want to play with the strobe lighting too.
I just need a steady full time job to pay for this stuff.
Let me stop...I'm starting to rant! And I don't want to do that.
Well this is the lastest, I will keep you posted.

Till later,

Gene
